Our Programs

Gun violence leaves wounds that extend far beyond the physical. Survivors, families, and witnesses carry emotional, psychological, and financial trauma that often goes unaddressed. Neighbors in Need provides immediate and sustained support for individuals and families in communities across the Greater Puget Sound region, including King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties who have been impacted by gun violence.

Our trained outreach workers meet survivors in hospitals, in their homes, and in their communities — wherever they are in their healing journey. We connect individuals with crisis counseling, mental health referrals, victim advocacy, and practical resource navigation to help stabilize families during their most vulnerable moments.

We believe that healing is possible, and that every survivor deserves to be seen, heard, and supported — not just in the immediate aftermath, but for as long as they need us.

Crisis doesn't present itself in neat categories. A family facing eviction may also be struggling with food insecurity, a parent's mental health challenge, and a child falling behind in school — all at once. Our Wraparound Services program is built around this reality.

We assign families a dedicated case manager who coordinates across every area of need — food, housing, utility assistance, mental health referrals, childcare, employment support, and safety-net navigation. Rather than referring families from one siloed service to another, we walk alongside them and help connect every piece.

Wraparound services are individualized, family-driven, and built on trust. We respect the dignity and agency of every family while providing the intensive, hands-on support they need to stabilize and build toward a better future.

Navigating the social services system is overwhelming — even for professionals. For families dealing with crisis, language barriers, or limited digital access, it can feel impossible. Our Family Resource Navigators cut through the complexity and provide individualized, hands-on help accessing the support families need.

Navigators work one-on-one with families to assess their needs, identify applicable programs (government benefits, emergency assistance, nonprofit services), complete applications, follow up on referrals, and resolve barriers to access. We don't just hand out a list of phone numbers — we walk families through the process from start to finish.

Services include SNAP and utility assistance applications, Medicaid and Apple Health enrollment, housing assistance referrals, childcare subsidy applications, and connection to emergency financial assistance programs.

Violence prevention requires more than enforcement — it requires community. Our Violence Prevention program works upstream from crisis, building the relationships, skills, and alternatives that reduce the likelihood of violence in the first place.

We facilitate community peace circles, conflict mediation, and healing-centered group experiences for young men at elevated risk. Our program draws on restorative justice principles, trauma-informed care, and the power of peer relationships to interrupt cycles of violence before they escalate.

We also work at the neighborhood level — partnering with businesses, faith institutions, schools, and local government to create environments where young people have positive alternatives, trusted mentors, and a sense of belonging in their community.
